Uses of Simple Present Tense

I assume that you are aware of the tense of English grammar, the different types of tense, and the simple present tense, which we will deal with in this post.

We will not cover the definition or any theories of simple present tense in this post, as I assume that you already know that.

But we will discuss here the different aspects and uses of the simple present tense with proper examples so that you can have a better understanding of the topic.

– Used to say general or universal truths and scientific facts
     - Used to denote habitual actions
     - Used to give directions
     - Used to express scheduled programs or arranged future.
     - Used in commentaries of sports
     - Used to give instructions
     - Used in newspaper headlines

– The earth goes around the sun.
  – He works in a bank.
  – Cats love to eat fish.
  – Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
  – The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
  – Dogs like to play with the ball.
  – Humans are mortals.
  – Trees need water to grow.
  – Water is tasteless.
  – The color of the sky is blue.
  – The sun gives us light.

 - I get up at 5 a.m.
 - I go to work at 10 a.m.
 - In summer we play cricket.
 - He eats eggs after workout in the morning.
 - My son watches cartoons every day.
 - Raj reads the newspaper daily.
 - I go to the gym daily.
 - We drink coffee daily.
